We teach children how to learn — not just what to learn.
At VHPS, we embed metacognition and reflection into everyday learning through our Learning Powers framework. These are based on the ELLI (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory), which introduces children to powerful learning behaviours using animal characters.
Alongside our VHPS Learning Cycle, which helps structure lessons and thinking, these learning powers encourage pupils to become independent, confident, and self-aware learners — skills that support both academic success and personal growth.
