Wellbeing

A happy child is a thriving learner — and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

At Victory Heights Primary School, wellbeing is not an add-on — it’s a core part of our daily life. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and supported. Our approach combines dedicated curriculum time, strong relationships, and a culture that prioritises kindness, emotional awareness, and personal growth.

Every week, children take part in:

  • Mindful Monday (Years 1–2)
  • Wellbeing Wednesday (Years 3–6)

These dedicated sessions help children explore emotions, develop empathy, practise mindfulness, and reflect on how to take care of themselves and others. Topics range from gratitude and resilience to healthy friendships and managing big feelings.

We also celebrate wellbeing across the school through:

  • Themed weeks and awareness days (e.g. Global Love Day, Anti-Bullying Week, World Kindness Day)
  • ELLI Learning Powers, which support emotional resilience, self-reflection, and personal growth
  • Assemblies and storytelling that promote values like kindness, inclusion, and confidence
  • Drop boxes and trusted adults available for children who need someone to talk to

Our pastoral team works closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure that every child is emotionally supported. When needed, we provide extra support through 1:1 wellbeing sessions, friendship groups, or outside referral pathways.

By nurturing emotional literacy and helping children build positive habits for life, we’re not just preparing them for school — we’re preparing them for the future.
